Emmaus Doctrinal Statement
The Aim of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip local church members for Christian action – in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. This aim is derived from the belief that we are to be active in our doctrinal position. Our doctrinal position is reflected in our basic Christian affirmations which are:
· We confess belief in the triune of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
· We hold faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ;
· We believe that Gods’ redemptive love is realized in human life by the
activity of the Holy Spirit, both in personal experience and in the community
of believers;
· We believe we are to be conformed to Christ;
· We believe the reign of God is both present and future reality;
· We believe the authority of Scripture;
· We believe our justification as sinners is by grace through faith; and
· We believe the church is in need of continual reformation and renewal.
