behind the scenes

A few things we love doing.

without you

Without volunteers, the walks would not be possible. You can come back to camp to serve as a volunteer for a couple of hours - or the entire weekend - whatever fits your schedule. Volunteers Hosts are on duty at each walk, anxious to make your experience meaningful, fun and rewarding. If you're not sure what to do - just ask!

anonymous servanthood

Emmaus volunteers practice Anonymous Servanthood. Our goal is not to intrude into the privacy of the pilgrim's experience. This means we are to be His invisible, humble servants who serve without pride. Special care should be taken so as to not interrupt the fellowship of the pilgrims and the team any more than is absolutely necessary. If the pilgrims do not remember you, then you have done your job ! All work done behind the scenes is to the glory of God !

camp fees

As an act of agape, volunteers pay their own fees. The Volunteer Hosts will show you where to pay and how to sign up once you get to camp.

Fees are as follows:

$8 for each meal

$8 overnight stay

$80 for entire weekend (maximum fee)

arrival at camp

Remember to arrive well in advance of any meal, etc. you wish to volunteer for. Occasionally you might find the gate on the upper road closed. This will indicate that pilgrims are out at chapel, prayer, etc. and should not be distracted by passing traffic. Just wait and the gate will re-open as soon as possible
