Without you, the walks couldn’t be possible! You can come back and serve for only a couple of hours, or the entire weekend, whatever fits your schedule. Volunteer Hosts are serving on each walk, anxious to make the experience meaningful, fun, and rewarding.

Emmaus practices anonymous servanthood. This means we are to be Christ’s invisible, humble servants in each moment of supporting a walk as we never want to intrude or be seen during any participant’s experience. If they don’t remember you, then you did your job well and all glory went to God.

As an act of agape, volunteers pay their own fees, and can be paid once you get to camp. Fees:

Arriving at Camp: Arrive well in advance of any meal or moment you are volunteering for. If you arrive and the gate is closed, this indicates the participants are moving to chapel, prayer, etc. and aren’t to be distracted by traffic. The gate will be re-opened as soon as the participants are settled.

The first step of serving at an Emmaus weekend is prayer. We ask that you pray for God's guidance in preparing your heart for a spirit of servanthood. From there, we invite you to participate in any of the many important background roles. This includes: serving meals, the 72 hour prayer vigil, helping with set-up and/or break-down, attending Send-off, Saturday night worship services and Closings.

The most important area of serving the Emmaus walk is sponsorship! Everyone who attends a weekend does so by having a 'Sponsor' who inspires, supports and equips them before, during, and after their walk. Sponsorship is the lifeline of the Emmaus community. It is how the Emmaus experience gets shared from person to person.

The primary goal of Emmaus is the spiritual growth of maturing Christians as disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage each person considering sponsorship to pray about their motivation to sponsor and ensure alignment to the overall purpose of Emmaus.
